The Association for X&Y Chromosome Variations (AXYS) is dedicated to addressing the needs of those affected by one or more extra X and/or Y chromosomes. We are focused on sharing knowledge, offering support and initiating action to help improve lives of individuals and families.
The 2025 AXYS Community Conference, to be held Friday, July 25 – Sunday, July 27, 2025, furthers our mission by bringing together the X&Y variation community. We expect hundreds of attendees from the US and other countries to attend in-person and virtually. Learn more at https://genetic.org/2025-axys-community-conference/
X&Y chromosome variations occur in approx. 1 in 500 people. They are common genetic conditions, but often go undiagnosed.
The most common variations involve a trisomy, which means three sex chromosomes instead of the typical two. This includes XXY (Klinefelter syndrome), XYY, and Trisomy X.
In addition, there are a number of other X and/or Y conditions where the person has 48 or 49 chromosomes. These include XXYY syndrome, XXXY, Tetrasomy X and XYYY; also 49,XXXXY, Pentasomy X, 49,XXXYY, 49,XXYYY and 49,XYYYY. Some individuals may have two cell lines, which is called mosaicism, such as 46,XY/47,XXY.
The AXYS Community Conference brings children and adults with these chromosome variations, their families and caregivers together with advocates, community organizations, parent group leaders, clinical and research professionals including genetic counselors, geneticists, and endocrinologists.
AXYS, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is pleased to offer sponsorship opportunities to fit every budget. Your support allows us to keep this conference affordable for families who gain valuable support by being with others that have the same condition. Your sponsorship also supports the participation of leading researchers and clinicians working in this area so families can learn directly from them.
